When asked whether they would like to ask for forgiveness or to give a gift, only two candidates on tonight's debate stage asked forgiveness. The two women on stage. Both referenced their being at times too tough, or angry, or passionate in their advocacy.
In male candidates that would be portrayed as strength and firmness of character.
But our political culture still treats women who show those traits as being unlikable. Shrill and emotional. A bitch.
In the face of that double standard, tonight we saw two extraordinary and talented women, both of whom have strongly spoken out for what they believe in making their case for our party's nomination, both feel they should ask forgiveness from those who may be offended by the force with which they've presented their arguments.
Senators, you are not that ones who should be asking forgiveness.
